Kurigram express derails at Santahar

A luggage van coach of the Dhaka-bound Kurigram Express derailed at Santahar Railway Junction in Bogura on Monday evening.

The incident occurred at around 7:00 PM as the intercity train from Kurigram was entering Santahar station.

According to railway sources, a luggage van coach at the rear of the train derailed due to a technical fault.

No casualties were reported in the incident.

Train services on the Jessore-Parbatipur route have been suspended temporarily following the derailment.

Trains operating on the route have been kept halted, causing disruption to services.

Santahar Railway Station Master Khatija Khanam said repair work on the track was underway.

“Train services may resume at any time after the repair work is completed,” she said.

Railway authorities are working to restore train movement as soon as possible.
