Schoolgirl kills self in Manikganj

MANIKGANJ, Sept 7: A class nine schoolgirl committed suicide at her home in the Karmakarkandi Boyra area of Boyra Union in Harirampur Upazila of the district on Sunday afternoon.

Deceased Jannat Akhter, 15, was the daughter of Sheikh Zafar Mia of the area and a student of the Humanities group of Abdur Razzak Model High School.

Police said that she hanged herself from a ceiling fan inside the house being conceited after an argument with her mother on Sunday morning over her use of mobile phone. Upon receiving the information, the police prepared an inquest report. The police said that further legal proceedings are underway in the incident.

Harirampur Police Station SI Md Emdadul Haque said that the incident is initially believed to be a suicide. Details will be known after the investigation.
