Drug dealer held with 1,030 Yaba tablets

A drugs smuggler was apprehended with 1,030 yaba pills in Begumganj, Noakhali district, during a coordinated operation by Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and the Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) on Tuesday night.

Based on the intelligence report, a joint team of RAB-1, CPC-3, Noakhali and DNC carried out the raid in the Karimpur Bazar of Begumganj.

Seeing the presence of law enforcers, a person attempted to escape in front of Monpura Porda House situated in the south of the Feni-Chowmuhani Highway. The RAB personnel chased and apprehended the fugitive. In total, 1,030 yaba pills were seized from him.

The person was identified as Abdur Rahman Mafuz, 25, son of Nuruzzaman, from Chattogram.

As per RAB, the person was the member of a network of drug traffickers. He had reportedly been collecting a large amount of drugs from the Cox’s Bazar border areas and was delivering them to Noakhali and neighboring districts by using different methods.

RAB-11 CPC-3 Company Commander Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police Mithun Kumar Kundu mentioned that legal action had been initiated against the accused under the Narcotics Control Act in Begumganj Police Station.
