Twin babies drowned to death in Cumilla

Two minor siblings aged about 18 months, have drowned to death in a pond in Barura upazila of Cumilla on Tuesday morning.

The victims are named Junaira and Taslima, twin daughters of Jasim Uddin of Kachiapukuria village.

As per locals, both the twins were found playing close to a pond when they somehow fell into the water. The family members found them in the pond and rushed them to Barura Upazila Health Complex where the doctors pronounced them dead.

Zahirul Islam, in-charge of the emergency section, told that the twins were admitted at around 10:50 AM in a dead body condition at the health complex. They were already dead when they reached the hospital.

Kazi Nazmul Haque, OC of Barura Police Station, said police have been sent to the spot after receiving information about the incident.
