Messi set to buy another Spanish Football Club

Argentine football legend Lionel Messi reached a preliminary agreement to purchase Spanish second-division club Eldense.

According to ESPN, the 39-year-old Inter Miami forward is finalizing the takeover subject to due diligence and formal approval from Spain’s National Sports Council.

This will mark Messi’s second club ownership in Spain, following his purchase of fifth-division side Cornelia earlier this year.

Founded in 1921, Eldense plays at the 5,776-seat Nuevo Pepico Amat stadium and is currently owned by Colombian investment group Grupo TH. While Cornelia operates as a semi-professional outfit, Eldense will become Messi's first fully professional football club in Spain.

Messi also holds a partial stake in Uruguayan club Deportivo LSM alongside Inter Miami teammate Luis Suarez. Spanish Football Federation regulations permit holding majority shares in clubs operating across different divisions, avoiding immediate legal conflicts between his two Spanish properties.
