The Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection has fined two bakeries Tk 15,000 during an inspection in Kaukhali upazila of Pirojpur to check the quality of food products.
The drive was conducted on Wednesday (September 9) at Nipa Bakery and Bismillah Bakery in the Aspaddi Bus Stand area of the upazila.
The operation was led by Debashish Roy, assistant director of the Pirojpur district office of the Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection. Health Inspector Nur-e-Alam Bakhtiar of Kaukhali Upazila Health Complex and members of Kaukhali Police Station were also present.
According to the officials conducting the drive, the inspection was part of regular monitoring of product quality in Kaukhali Bazar. Nipa Bakery owner Zainal Abedin was fined Tk 10,000, while Bismillah Bakery owner Rezaul Karim was fined Tk 5,000 for violations under the Consumer Rights Protection Act, 2009.
