Banned AL leader in Pirojpur held in cheque fraud case 

 
KAWKHALI,  PIROJPUR, Sept 11: Police have arrested Mamun Hossain Bablu Jamaddar, organisational secretary of the banned Bangladesh Awami League (AL) Kaukhali Upazila unit and a former member of the Pirojpur District Council, in a cheque fraud case.

Mamun, who was convicted and sentenced in the cheque fraud case, had been absconding for a long time, police said. Acting on information obtained through technology, police traced his whereabouts and, with assistance from the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), arrested him in Dhaka's Jatrabari area.

He was sent to jail through a court on Thursday.

Mamun is also an accused in a case filed with Kaukhali Police Station on October 13, 2024, over alleged sabotage. He was named as accused No 8 in the case.

Following his arrest, the investigating officer also showed him arrested in the sabotage case, police said.
Kaukhali Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Anwar Hossain confirmed the arrest and said Mamun was sent to jail through the court on Thursday.
