PM distributes funds among mosques, temples

 
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman provided financial grants to various religious places of worship in the Dhaka-17 constituency in the capital on Friday.

The grants were given to mosques and temples in the constituency. Financial assistance was also provided to different temples to help prepare for the upcoming Sharadiya Durga Puja.

On Friday afternoon the Prime Minister handed over the grant cheques to representatives of the respective mosques and temples at the BNP Chairperson's office in Gulshan.

Cheques worth Tk 2.47 lakh each were distributed among 28 mosques in the Dhaka-17 area.

In addition, a total of Tk 30 lakh was provided to 10 temples as financial assistance for the Sharadiya Durga Puja. Each temple received Tk 3 lakh.

The financial assistance was provided to support the activities of the religious institutions and help ensure the smooth organization of the Sharadiya Durga Puja.

The constituency mainly covers Gulshan, Banani, Niketan, Mohakhali, Korail slum, Baridhara, Shahjadpur, Kalachandpur, Bhashantek, Matikata and parts of Dhaka Cantonment.

Tarique Rahman, the BNP Chairperson and Prime Minister, is the Member of Parliament from the Dhaka-17 constituency.
