A 33-year-old man died after being electrocuted while installing decorative lights for Eid-e-Miladunnabi (PBUH) in Chattogram’s Raozan on Friday evening.
Monir Hossain, son of Khurshid Alam from Srikamta village of Nangalkot municipality in Cumilla district, died after being admitted to Hathazari Upazila Health Complex at around 7:30 PM.
The deceased was installing decorative lights at Karim Shikdar Bari in Noajishpur Union for Eid-e-Miladunnabi but was electrocuted because of electric wires and severely injured.
Local people rescued Monir and admitted him to Hathazari Upazila Health Complex, where doctors announced his death on arrival.
Tapas Kanti Majumder, OIC of Hathazari Upazila Health and Family Planning Office, said, “Monir was already dead when he was brought to the hospital.” The body of the deceased was later handed over to his fellow men.
Monir was employed in Nezam Decorator, a decoration service provider in Raozan.
According to Saiful Islam, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Raozan Police Station, they have heard about the accident but no written complaint has been filed yet.
