A fire broke out at a mosque and a clothing store in Sreenagar of Munshiganj around 2 AM on Saturday.

No casualty was reported in the incident, which took place at Purba Kamarkhola Bazar.

Two fire fighting units from Sreenagar Fire Station brought the fire under control about an hour.

Part of a wooden and tin mosque, including fans and a microphone, was damaged, while the clothing store owned by Motaleb Sheikh was completely gutted. A refrigerator, sewing machine, clothes, fans, a bed and other items were damaged.

Muhammad Shafiqul Islam, Deputy Assistant Director of Munshiganj Fire Service and Civil Defence, said the fire was initially suspected to have originated from an electrical fault.

The extent of the loss could not be ascertained immediately.
