Appointments of new prison chief, additional prison chief cancelled

The appointments of Brigadier General Mohammad Mostafa Kamal as the new Inspector General of Prisons and Colonel Md Saidul Islam as Additional Inspector General of Prisons have been cancelled.

The Ministry of Public Administration issued a notification on Thursday (September 10), appointing the two army officers on deputation. Their services were placed under the Ministry of Home Affairs for this purpose.

Mostafa Kamal was promoted from colonel to brigadier general, while Saidul Islam was promoted from lieutenant colonel to colonel.

The notification appointing the two officers has since been removed from the Ministry of Public Administration’s website. A concerned official said the notification had been cancelled and that another notification had been issued in this regard. However, the new notification has not been uploaded to the ministry’s website.

The reason for cancelling the appointments on the same day they were announced was not immediately known.
