Motorcyclist killed in Gazipur covered van crash

A motorcyclist had died after being hit by a covered van in the Pubail area of Gazipur on Saturday (September 12) night.

The deceased was identified as Jasim Uddin, 50, hailing from Sonargaon Upazila of Narayanganj district.

According to police and local sources, the accident occurred around 8:00 PM on Saturday on the Tongi-Kaliganj regional highway near Majukhan in Pubail. Jasim was traveling along the highway when a covered van coming from behind rammed his motorcycle. The collision threw him onto the road, leaving him critically injured.

Locals rescued Jasim from the spot and rushed him to Shahid Ahsan Ullah Master General Hospital in Gazipur. The duty doctor declared him dead upon arrival.

Pubail Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Atiqur Rahman confirmed the incident, stating that legal proceedings regarding the fatal collision are currently underway.
