Son allegedly stabs father to death in Teknaf

A man died after allegedly being stabbed by his son following a family dispute in Teknaf upazila of Cox’s Bazar.

The deceased was Abul Kashem, also known as Ledu Mistry, was a furniture worker.

The incident took place on Friday in Hamjar Chhara area of Ward No. 6 of Hnila union. According to the locals, a dispute over the division of family property led to a confrontation. During the scuffle, Kashem was allegedly stabbed by his son Harun-or-Rashid.

Neighbours and relatives alleged that Harun and his wife were involved in the stabbing. Kashem sustained serious injuries. Locals rescued him and took him to a hospital in Hnila for initial treatment and as his condition deteriorated, doctors referred him to Chattogram Medical College Hospital for better treatment. He died there at around 8am on Saturday while undergoing treatment.

Teknaf Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Saiful Islam said police had not yet received a written complaint regarding the incident. “Necessary legal action will be taken after receiving a complaint,” he said.
