A teenage girl has allegedly raped by four youths in Tongmak Para of Paindu Union, Ruma, Bandarban, with her family is preparing to file a case.
The accused are Kaysingnu Marma, Nyochingang Marma, Singhla Marma and Ushainu Marma.
According to the girl, Kaysingnu first raped her. The next day, Nyochingang and Singhla allegedly raped her, while Ushainu allegedly raped her later.
About four months later, Nyochingang allegedly gave her a strip of tablets. Her condition worsened after taking them. Her parents then took her to Ruma Upazila Health Complex, from where she was later referred to Bandarban District Hospital.
The family said medical examinations revealed that the girl was pregnant and had later developed complications. They said the alleged incident came to light on September 8 after remaining undisclosed for some time.
Ward No. 1 member Mongcho Marma could not be reached despite repeated attempts. Paindu Union Chairman Uhlamong Marma said he had heard the allegation but had not been formally informed by the family.
The girl’s father went to Ruma Police Station on September 12 to initiate legal action.
Ruma police station OC Manas Barua said the health complex had informed him by phone about two days earlier, but no written complaint or case had been filed.
He said police would investigate and take legal action after receiving a written complaint.
