A meeting of foreign ministers from Gulf countries scheduled for today in Oman to discuss opening a new route through the Strait of Hormuz has been postponed.

Oman said the decision was taken in the interest of reaching a unanimous consensus. Iran’s Foreign Ministry, however, said the postponement came at the request of several countries.

Tehran said a new date for the meeting would be determined through consultations.

The foreign ministers were scheduled to meet in Muscat to discuss a proposed joint route between Iran and Oman through the Strait of Hormuz.

Meanwhile, explosions were heard in Sirik, in Iran’s southern Hormozgan province. No casualties or damage were reported.
