Sylhet set for Prez Mirza Fakhrul's arrival

Local civil and police administrations have finalized extensive preparations across Sylhet city to ensure security and logistical readiness ahead of the presidential tour.

According to the official itinerary, the President will arrive in Sylhet on Tuesday morning and offer prayers at the shrines of Hazrat Shahjalal (R) and Hazrat Shahparan (R). Following the shrine visits, he is scheduled to attend a civic reception hosted by the Sylhet City Corporation (SCC) at 3:00 PM before returning to Dhaka in the evening.

On Sunday (September 13), SCC Administrator Abdul Qayyum Chowdhury inspected the ongoing infrastructure and beautification works around the Hazrat Shahparan (R) shrine. Accompanied by senior municipal engineers, Chowdhury assessed the site preparations to ensure a smooth visit.

"Sylhet is a city of historic and tourist importance. We are prioritizing all operational aspects to ensure the President experiences the city seamlessly," Chowdhury stated following the inspection.

Meanwhile, security measures have been escalated across the metropolitan area. The Sylhet Metropolitan Police (SMP) held a coordination meeting on Saturday chaired by SMP Commissioner Sarwar Murshed Shamim.

The meeting addressed traffic management, intelligence gathering, route security, and inter-agency coordination among law enforcement and emergency response services.
