An unidentified woman’s partly decomposed body was recovered from the bank of the Padma River in Faridpur on Monday morning.
A team of C&B Ghat River Police recovered the body from Kabirpur area of Dikrirchar Union around 10:30 AM.
Police said the woman, 35, was wearing a maxi and scarf. A heavy piece of cement block and some bricks were tied to her scarf.
Local people saw the body near the riverbank around 7 AM and informed the police.
Police later recovered the body and sent it to Faridpur Medical College Hospital for an autopsy. Members of CID and PBI also visited the spot.
Police could not identify the woman as the body had badly decomposed and fingerprints could not be collected.
SI Tapan Kumar Saha said they suspect the woman was killed at least seven days ago and her body was thrown into the river with bricks and a cement block tied to it.
Legal action is underway.
