Admission tests proposed for classes 2-9, lottery for class 1

Admission tests have been proposed for classes 2-9 from the next academic year, while Class 1 admission will be conducted through a lottery.

Under the proposal, the test for Classes 2-5 will carry 50 marks and last one hour, with 15 marks each for Bangla and English and 20 for Mathematics.

For Classes 6-9, the test will carry 100 marks and last two hours, with 30 marks each for Bangla and English and 40 for Mathematics.

The proposal was discussed at a meeting at the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) last week. Officials were instructed to prepare a draft, which is to be sent to the Education Ministry for final approval.

The DSHE has proposed holding the tests from December 17, after the Junior Scholarship Examination and Victory Day programmes.
