The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) conducted an enforcement drive at the Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (RAJUK) on Monday over allegations of irregularities, bribery, corruption and negligence in approving building designs and monitoring construction activities in the capital.

An enforcement team led by ACC Assistant Director Subhash Chandra carried out the drive at RAJUK headquarters, said Tanzir Ahmed, assistant director of the ACC’s public relations department.

According to ACC sources, the operation was launched following specific allegations of irregularities in the approval of building designs, negligence in supervising and inspecting construction work, and bribery and corruption that allegedly allowed construction of buildings in violation of approved plans and regulations.

During the drive, the ACC team examined relevant official records and documents at RAJUK and collected information and evidence concerning the allegations, the sources said.

The commission is expected to analyse the documents and information collected during the operation before deciding on further action.

Meanwhile, another ACC enforcement team conducted a separate drive at Gopalganj Medical College Hospital on Monday following allegations of irregularities and corruption in the hospital’s orthopaedic department.
