Speedboat-bulkhead collision kills 2 in Brahmanbaria

Two people were killed and another was injured when a speedboat collided head-on with a steel bulkhead in Nasirnagar, Brahmanbaria, on Monday night.

The accident took place around 10 PM near Khagalia village in Bhalakut union on the Bemalia River.

The deceased were Dayal Mia, son of Rayhan Bhuiyan of Chatlapar village, and Sajib Mia, son of Hanif Mia of Borarchar village in Kuliarchar upazila of Kishoreganj.

Police and locals said the speedboat was returning to Chatlapar after taking a sick patient to Nasirnagar Upazila Health Complex. On the way, it collided head-on with a steel bulkhead coming from the opposite direction.

Three people on the speedboat were seriously injured. Locals rescued them and took them to the health complex, where doctors declared Dayal and Sajib dead. The injured person was given primary treatment.

Nasirnagar Police Station OC Shahinul Islam confirmed the deaths. He said the bodies would be sent to Brahmanbaria District Sadar Hospital for autopsy.
