10 injured as bus falls into roadside water in Manikganj

At least 10 passengers were injured after a Hanif Paribahan bus lost control and fell into roadside water on the Dhaka-Aricha highway in Manikganj on Tuesday.

The accident occurred around noon near Nabagram-Kasadah Bridge in Shibalaya upazila. The bus was travelling from Paturia to Dhaka with around 40 to 42 passengers when the driver reportedly lost control due to reckless speeding.

Police and local residents rescued the passengers from the bus. Eight to 10 injured passengers were taken to hospital.

The bus, bearing registration number Dhaka Metro-B-2959, was left at the scene after the accident, while the driver fled, police said.

Barangail Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Harun-or-Rashid said traffic on the highway remained normal after the accident.
