Science and Technology Minister Faqir Mahbub Anam Reaffirms Bangladesh’s Commitment to ensuring nuclear safety, security and responsible management in accordance with the highest international standards.

“Bangladesh’s inclusion as the first country in South Asia in the Joint Convention on the Safety of Spent Fuel Management and on the Safety of Radioactive Waste Management reflects the country’s commitment to implementing a safe and responsible nuclear programme,” he informed the 70th International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) General Conference in Vienna on Tuesday.

Highlighting Bangladesh’s strong commitment to nuclear safety, he stressed the importance of bringing the benefits of science and technology to the doorsteps of the people. He said that that the application of nuclear technology should not remain confined to technological advancement; rather, it should be utilised to improve people’s quality of life, enhance climate resilience, increase food and agricultural productivity, and expand healthcare services.
