Real Madrid survived a dramatic second-half scare to secure a 3-2 victory over Elche, thanks to a stoppage-time winner from summer signing Carlos Espi.

The victory—Real Madrid's fifth in six La Liga matches—moves them to 15 points, level at the top of the table alongside rivals Barcelona.

Real Madrid appeared in full control during the first half. An own goal by Elche goalkeeper Matías Dituro opened the scoring, followed by Kylian Mbappé’s seventh goal in six league matches to double the lead before the break.

However, Elche mounted a fierce second-half rally on home soil. Abiel Osorio pulled one back in the 71st minute, before substitute Fer Niño scored an 83rd-minute equalizer to put the hosts on the brink of an unexpected point.

With a draw looming, Espi—who arrived from Levante in the summer transfer window—came off the bench to rescue Real Madrid deep into injury time. It marks the second time this season the forward has delivered a late winner as a substitute, having previously secured victory against Espanyol on his league debut.
