German transgender ex-police officer admits raping teenager

A 55-year-old transgender former German police officer has admitted raping a 15-year-old girl in the toilet of a McDonald’s restaurant, with the trial under way at the Traunstein Regional Court.
Maja S. confessed to the rape and several other charges during a hearing at the court on Monday, according to German media reports. Judge Andreas Bartschmid said she could face a prison sentence of three and a half years.
Maja was initially held in the women’s section of a prison in Bamberg, Bavaria, following her arrest. She has been held in the men’s section of Stadelheim prison for the past five months.
Her lawyer, Peter Dürr, told German newspaper Bild that being held with male prisoners was a serious burden for her. He said she was whistled at during exercise periods and that physical examinations were conducted by male officers.
Police found more than 2,000 files containing child and animal pornography during searches of her home and workplace. A Kalashnikov rifle was also seized, according to police.
The investigation into Maja began in 2024 after she allegedly uploaded pornographic material involving children to the internet. Police subsequently raided her home and workplace.
She was suspended from police service and later fined €19,000.
While the investigation was under way, Maja invited the 15-year-old daughter of an acquaintance to go on a motorcycle trip. According to the prosecution, she later followed the girl into a toilet at a McDonald’s restaurant and raped her.
The incident, which occurred in August 2025, came to light after Maja’s fiancée, Stefanie Z., found a sexual message on her partner’s phone.
Stefanie told the court that she was shocked by what she had found and asked the girl whether everything was all right. The girl then told her that Maja had taken her to the toilet, kissed her and touched her.
Stefanie subsequently went to the police and filed a complaint on behalf of the girl.
Maja is also accused of assaulting the teenager on another occasion after a trip to a swimming pool. The girl reportedly woke up the following morning in Maja’s bed without her clothes and had no recollection of what had happened.
The trial is continuing.
