Hefazat chief unharmed as vehicle involved in accident

Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh chief Mahibullah Babunagari escaped unhurt after the microbus carrying him was involved in an accident in Mirsarai, Chattogram, on Wednesday.

The accident occurred at Baraiyarhat on the Dhaka-Chattogram Highway while Babunagari was travelling from Chattogram to Noakhali. The rear of the microbus was damaged, but Babunagari and his companions were unharmed.

According to local sources, a Dhaka-bound bus hit the microbus from behind after it reached the Baraiyarhat area. No one in the vehicle was injured.

Leaders of Hefazat-e-Islam's Feni district unit contacted those involved after learning about the accident.

They said the matter was later settled at Mohipal in Feni in the presence of local administration officials, representatives of the bus owners' association and local people.

Hefazat-e-Islam Feni district assistant publicity secretary Maulana Azizullah Ahmadi said they went to Mohipal after learning about the accident.

“No one was injured in the accident. Later, Allama Mahibullah Babunagari was sent to Noakhali in another vehicle,” he said.
