We planned on making a movie together, but now, he’s gone: Khairul Basar

"We had a plan to make a movie someday. We had so many more stories to tell," said Khairul Basar's he reminisced after losing his dear colleague and friend, Maruf Hossain Sajib.

Their final project together, ‘Bok pokkhir Piriti’, has not yet been released; Basar’s words reflect the regret surrounding this fact.

Playwright and director Maruf Hossain Sajib passed away early Tuesday morning after suffering a heart attack. His sudden death has cast a pall of gloom over the showbiz industry, with many colleagues sharing their memories of him on social media.

Khairul Basar took to social media to share an emotional post reflecting on that relationship, where he shared a long-standing bond with Sajib; beyond their professional collaboration, they were close friends.

He wrote, "We had a plan to make a movie someday. We had so many more stories to tell – stories that would wander through the nooks and crannies of the audience's hearts and never fade away. Yet, the one who was lost was my brother; he left us so unexpectedly."

Basar also recalled the time spent with Sajib. In his words, "From the very beginning, we were brothers, we were friends. We walked together for miles, sharing countless plans, arguments, and debates. In those moments of silence, our hearts and eyes spoke volumes – we wanted to create something meaningful; we wanted the best for each other; we loved one another."

Alongside the pain of losing a friend, the actor expressed regret that their final project has yet to reach the audience. Basar wrote, "Director Maruf Hossain Sajib remains a name synonymous with both love and regret. ‘Bokpokkhir Piriti’ was our final film, and as things stand, our last project together. It hasn't even been released yet. And now, my brother is gone."

Towards the end of the post, Khairul Basar prayed for Sajib’s soul and asked others to do the same. He wrote, "May Allah the Almighty grant my brother peace. Please pray for the salvation of his soul."

As a playwright and director, Sajib had created several popular dramas. His list of works includes several plays such as ‘Bilop’, ‘Babui Pakhir Basha’, ‘Rongin Kagoj’, ‘Adhar’, ‘Security Girl’, ‘Tomake Paoar Jonno’, ‘Hashi’, ‘Bikel Belar Chhad’, ‘Dushtu Mishti Prem’, ‘Adorer Chand’, and ‘Jora Shaliker Ghor’.
