Turkish Energy Minister to visit Dhaka by year-end

Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar will visit Bangladesh by the end of this year to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the energy and mineral sector.

The decision came during a meeting between Minister Alparslan Bayraktar and Bangladesh Ambassador to Turkey M Amanul Haque at the ministry in Ankara. The Bangladesh Embassy in Ankara shared the update on Wednesday (September 16).

During the meeting, Ambassador Amanul Haque handed over an official invitation letter from Bangladesh Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman. The Turkish Minister accepted the invitation and expressed his intent to visit Bangladesh at a convenient time before the year ends.

Bayraktar instructed officials to make the necessary preparations to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on energy cooperation during the upcoming visit. Ambassador Amanul Haque also handed over a draft MoU to build a cooperation framework between the energy ministries of both nations.

Both sides discussed joint ventures in solar energy, mineral exploration, LNG transport, and offshore pipeline infrastructure.

Deputy Chief of Mission Shahanur Alam and Commercial Counselor Akram Hossain represented Bangladesh. High officials from the Turkish Energy Ministry and Senior Advisor Hamid Can Bas attended the meeting.

The embassy stated that the meeting reflects a shared intent to deepen ties and unlock new opportunities in the energy sector.
