2 arrested in Kaptai BGB drive

Border Guard Bangladesh (41 BGB) has arrested two alleged smugglers along with Tk 28.45 lakh in cash and a CNG auto-rickshaw during a special drive in Kaptai of Rangamati.

Based on secret intelligence, The drive was conducted by Havildar Md. Ekhlas Uddin under the direction of Lieutenant Colonel Kawsar Mehdi, Signals, Commanding Officer of Kaptai Battalion (41 BGB), approximately 8:05 AM on Thursday (September 17) near Gate No. 1 GP of the Kaptai Battalion.

The detainees have been identified as Nithu Marma (33), son of Uchila Marma from Baengchhari village in Kaptai, and Supriya Chakma (20), son of Sunil Chakma from Naobhanga village in Rangamati Sadar.

According to BGB sources, officials seized Tk 28.45 lakh being transported illegally, one CNG auto-rickshaw (Chattogram-Th-15-1764), one smartphone, one feature phone, two SIM cards, and Tk 2,960 in personal cash from the detainees. The total estimated seizure value of the confiscated items is Tk 34,70,360.

BGB authorities stated that process to hand over the detainees, seized cash, and vehicle to Kaptai Police Station is underway. BGB reaffirmed its commitment to continuing such operations to curb smuggling, illegal drug trafficking, and border crimes alongside.
