Fox attacks leave 18 injured in Kishoreganj in two days

At least 18 people were injured in separate fox attacks in Kishoreganj’s Katiadi and Bajitpur upazilas over two days, sparking panic in several villages.

The attacks took place from Tuesday to Wednesday. Three goats and two cows were also injured in the attacks.

In Katiadi, a fox first attacked two cows in Para Mondalbhog village of Mumurdia union. When their owners tried to rescue the animals, the fox attacked them and later bit nine people.

Four of the injured were taken to Katiadi Upazila Health Complex, while two others received treatment at Jahurul Islam Medical College Hospital in Bajitpur. Others received treatment locally.

Meanwhile, nine people were reportedly injured in fox attacks in several villages, including Bamangao, Chhaypaika, Kalikapur and Indurdair, in Halimpur union of Bajitpur.

Residents said the attacks have caused fear in the affected areas, with many avoiding going outside after evening and moving in groups.

The fox remains at large.

Dr Esha Khan, residential medical officer of Katiadi Upazila Health Complex, said three people sought treatment there on Tuesday night after being bitten by a fox. They were given necessary treatment and rabies vaccines.
