Hasina photo displayed at NSTU Event, 2 teachers show-caused

A controversy erupted at Noakhali Science and Technology University (NSTU) after a photo of fugitive former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was shown on the digital screen during a program on Thursday (September 17) morning.

The incident took place at the Birshreshtha Shahid Ruhul Amin Auditorium during a program organized by the Microbiology Department to mark International Microorganism Day. When the national anthem was being played, Hasina's photo appeared in the background video.

Treasurer Prof. Dr. Md. Hasan Uddin, who was present as special guest, termed it "sad and concerning" and said it goes against the spirit of the July uprising. He left the venue shortly after.

Department Chairman Prof. Dr. Firoz Ahmed said a student assigned to the event downloaded a national anthem video from YouTube with the highest views and did not notice the last 10 seconds contained Hasina's photo.

Convener Dr. Khandaker Fahmida Sultana also called it an unintentional mistake.
