Police have arrested three youths in Munshiganj’s Srinagar for allegedly attempting to sell a stolen CNG-run auto-rickshaw. A stolen CNG was also seized from their possession.
The arrestees were identified as Sajjad Hossain Shuvo, 20, son of Sharif of Aldi Rajarchar area in Munshiganj; Imran, 20, son of Azizul of Tengramara Camp area in Haluaghat upazila of Mymensingh; and Siam Hossain, 19, son of Munna of Madhabpur Tea Garden area in Kamalganj upazila of Moulvibazar.
According to police, the three youths went to Balashur Bazar in Srinagar upazila with a CNG around 5pm on Wednesday (September 17) and offered to sell it to a local man, Yasin Molla.
When Yasin asked them to show the vehicle’s documents, they failed to produce any papers, raising his suspicion.
He later informed Srinagar police, who, with the help of local residents, detained the three men along with the CNG from the Balashur Bazar area around 8:45 PM.
The vehicle was subsequently seized.
Milton Dutta, inspector (investigation) of Srinagar Police Station, said legal action had been taken against the arrestees and they would be sent to court.
