4 held in brutal gang-rape and murder of Delhi teenager

Delhi Police have apprehended four individuals, including three juveniles, in connection with the gang-rape and murder of a 17-year-old girl whose severely decomposed body was discovered in an open field in the Swaroop Nagar area of North Delhi.

Authorities confirmed that the victim and the accused were acquainted prior to the incident. According to police investigators, the group consumed alcohol inside a tempo before the victim was sexually assaulted and stabbed multiple times.

Her body was subsequently dumped near Jaipal Rana's field along Kushak Road, where it remained undiscovered until September 13.

The body suffered severe decomposition and partial mutilation by stray animals before being spotted by local residents. The victim’s family had not lodged a missing person report, noting that she frequently left home for several days at a time.

With no immediate eyewitnesses at the scene, law enforcement officers analyzed footage from over 50 CCTV cameras across the surrounding routes. Investigators identified a suspicious tempo moving near the location around the estimated time of the crime and tracked its movement to Khadda Colony in Swaroop Nagar.

Following an overnight operation, police detained the vehicle driver and subsequently arrested 19-year-old Shivam, also known as Sudama, along with three juveniles aged 16 and 17. Officers recovered two knives believed to have been used in the attack alongside blood-stained clothing.

The case has been registered under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act as legal proceedings continue.
