
MUNSHIGANJ, Sept 18: As part of the three-month special cleanliness campaign under the nationwide “National Dengue Prevention and Cleanliness Drive 2026,” a cleaning operation was conducted at the Katakhali Canal in Munshiganj town on Friday morning.
Members of BD Clean Munshiganj and various volunteer organisations actively participated in the campaign, organised by the district administration with the support of Munshiganj Municipality.
The campaign was conducted under the direction of Munshiganj Deputy Commissioner (DC) Syeda Nurmahal Ashrafi. Among those present were Deputy Director of Local Government Mousumi Mahbub, Additional DC (Revenue) Md Mahmudur Rahman Khondakar, officials and employees of Munshiganj Municipality, and representatives of BD Clean Munshiganj and various volunteer organisations.
During the cleanliness drive, accumulated garbage and waste were removed from various parts of the Katakhali Canal, and necessary measures were taken to ensure the canal’s normal water flow and protect the surrounding environment.
It may be noted that the three-month nationwide cleanliness programme under the “National Dengue Prevention and Cleanliness Drive 2026” began on September 12 and will continue across the country until December 12, 2026.
On the occasion of the programme, DC Syeda Nurmahal Ashrafi emphasised the importance of increasing awareness at both individual and community levels alongside government initiatives to prevent dengue. She urged everyone to regularly keep their homes, workplaces, and surrounding areas clean, ensure that water does not accumulate anywhere, and promptly remove potential mosquito breeding grounds.
