A bus parked in front of Karimpur Highway Police Station in Kanaipur on the Dhaka-Khulna Highway in Faridpur was set on fire allegedly by miscreants on Friday night.
The incident occurred around 10:45 PM on Friday (September 18).
According to locals and the Fire Service, the bus, owned by Purbaasha Paribahan, was parked in front of the highway police station when unidentified individuals allegedly set it on fire. The bus quickly caught fire.
On information, A unit of Faridpur Fire Service reached the spot and brought the fire under control after around 20 minutes of efforts.
Faridpur Fire Service Senior Station Officer Sribas Baroi confirmed the incident, saying the fire was extinguished, but it was not immediately known who set the bus on fire.
Faridpur Kotwali Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mahmudul Hasan said, "the abandoned bus had been parked beside the highway after being involved in an accident when miscreants suddenly set it on fire."
“Police and Fire Service personnel reached the spot immediately after receiving the information and brought the situation under control,” he said.
He added that the authorities were investigating the incident with utmost importance to identify those involved in the act of sabotage.
