6 bodies recovered in Sunamganj and Manikganj tragedies

Police have recovered six bodies, including four children, from two separate domestic incidents in Sunamganj and Manikganj.
In Sunamganj's Tahirpur upazila, a father allegedly poisoned his three children before consuming pesticide himself late Friday night. The deceased children were identified as Mawa, 10, Shamim, 7, and Tamim, 2. The incident occurred in Rajnailine village around 1:00 AM.
The father, Sorfat Ali, 35, is currently undergoing treatment at Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital in critical condition.
Local sources said Sorfat's wife, Fatema Begum, had left for Saudi Arabia three days prior. Sorfat went to sleep with his three children on Friday night. Around 1:00 AM, all four ingested poison.
Sorfat later called his paternal aunt in Mymensingh to inform her about the incident. After being alerted by the aunt, Sorfat's younger brother Rahmat Ali rushed to the house and broke open the door.
Neighbours rushed them to the upazila health complex, where doctors declared the three children dead. Sorfat was shifted to Sylhet for advanced treatment.
Local Farmer Party leader Ali Hossain stated that Sorfat was addicted to drugs and gambling. Police recovered a lychee juice bottle from the room, suspecting pesticide was mixed with the drink. Tahirpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Faruq Ahmed confirmed that the bodies were sent to Sunamganj Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
In a separate incident in Manikganj Sadar, police recovered the bodies of a Saudi expatriate, his wife, and their 1.5-year-old daughter on Saturday afternoon. The deceased were Ekram Hossain, 40, his second wife Sanjida Akter Priyanka, 25, and their daughter Aliza.
Family members broke into the house around noon after receiving no response. They found Ekram hanging from a ceiling beam, while Priyanka lay on the floor and Aliza on the bed.
Police suspect Ekram killed his wife and child over a family dispute before hanging himself. However, Priyanka's mother, Afroza, alleged that it was a planned murder by Ekram’s family.
Additional Superintendent of Police Moharam Ali said legal procedures, including filing a murder case and an unnatural death case, are underway. Further investigation and autopsy reports will reveal the exact cause of death.
