10 police members hospitalised falling ill after dinner in Kushtia

Ten police personnel were hospitalised after falling ill shortly after having dinner at a police camp in Kushtia’s Islamic University police station area on Saturday night.

The incident occurred at the Patikabari Police Camp, where the officers reportedly became unconscious shortly after eating at around 10PM.

They were taken to Kushtia Medical College Hospital separately between midnight and 3AM on Sunday for treatment.

The affected personnel were identified as SIs Kofil, Aminur, Mukhtar, Shariful, Moniruzzaman and Kamruzzaman, along with police personnel Rezaul, Monirul, Aminul and Nazrul.

SI Moniruzzaman, in-charge of the Patikabari camp and one of those receiving treatment, said they had eaten rice with chicken and potatoes cooked at the camp.

“They began experiencing reactions shortly after dinner at around 10PM.''

Kushtia Superintendent of Police Aminul Islam visited the Patikabari camp following the incident.

SM Mamunur Rashid, officer'in-charge of Islamic University Police Station, said he went to the camp after receiving the news and that the incident was being investigated.
