Dengue claims teenager at Paikgachha 

PAIKGACHHA, KHULNA, Sept 20: A 17-year-old boy died of dengue while undergoing treatment at a private clinic in Khulna on Saturday morning, amid a recent rise in dengue cases in Paikgachha.

Munna, son of Masum Billa of Village Paikgachha, died at Khulna Health Care Clinic at about 8:15 am. He worked as a helper to the government ambulance driver at Paikgachha Upazila Health Complex.

Munna had suffered from fever for several days before testing positive for dengue and being admitted to hospital on September 15. His condition deteriorated on Friday, and doctors referred him to Khulna Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment. His family instead admitted him to Khulna Health Care, where he later died.

At least 24 dengue patients are currently receiving treatment at the 50-bed Paikgachha Upazila Health Complex, according to local health officials. Tapas Kumar Mondal, an assistant professor at Fosiar Rahman Women’s College in Paikgachha, also died of dengue on September 5.

Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr Ahsanara Binte Ahmed urged patients to remain on complete rest and maintain adequate fluid intake even after their fever subsides, warning that serious complications can occur during that period.
