Shibir honours 1,500 GPA-5 achievers in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, Sep: 20: The Chattogram Metropolitan South branch of Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir honoured around 1,500 students who secured GPA-5 in the SSC and equivalent examinations at a reception in the port city on Sunday.

The ‘A+ Reception’ was held at the Engineers Institution, where students were also given guidance on higher education, career planning, ethics, leadership and skill development.

Central President of Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir Nurul Islam attended the programme as the chief guest, while Chattogram Metropolitan South branch President Maimunul Islam Mamun presided.

Dr Kazi Md Barkat Ali, a professor of Geography and Environmental Studies at the University of Chittagong, delivered the keynote address.

In his speech, Nurul Islam said achieving a good result was an important milestone in academic life, but not the end of the journey. He urged the students to pursue higher education with greater dedication, hard work and moral integrity and utilise their talents for the welfare of the people.

He said students should not merely pursue academic success but also develop themselves as honest, responsible and patriotic citizens. Talented individuals, he added, would have to play a key role in the country’s development and in serving the people.
