A Dhaka court on Sunday sent four people including a leader of banned Awami League to jail in a case filed over multiple crude bomb explosions outside Jatrabari Police Station (PS).
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Monirul Islam passed the order and fixed Tuesday (Sept 22) for hearing a five-day remand petition against the accused.
The accused are Mohammad Raihan Uddin, office secretary of AL’s Unit-6 of Ward 32 under Bangshal PS, Russell Khan; Alauddin; and Abdullah Mashhur Ashrafi.
Police arrested Raihan in Bangshal on Saturday after identifying him from CCTV footage of the September 18 blasts. Based on information obtained from him, police later recovered four unexploded crude bombs from a parking area on Zain Saha Road in Lalbagh. Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s bomb disposal unit subsequently neutralised the devices.
Police later arrested Russell, Alauddin and Abdullah in Demra based on information obtained during Raihan’s interrogation.
