Student scalded while boiling eggs for school meal 

BAUPHAL, PATUAKHALI,  Sept 21: A fourth-grade student was scalded by boiling water being used to boil eggs for the midday meal at Madhya Daspara Government Primary School in Bauphal Upazila of Patuakhali on Sunday.

The injured student, Mahfuzur Rahman, was admitted to Bauphal Upazila Health Complex in critical condition.

According to school sources, teachers have students boil eggs for the midday meal every day. Mahfuz was scalded by the boiling water while eggs were being prepared on Sunday.

The incident sparked panic among other students at the school.

However, Fahmida Akter, Mahfuz's class teacher, denied the allegation. She said Mahfuz was scalded when he collided with another person while carrying away the hot water after the eggs had been boiled.

Attempts to contact school head-teacher Fazlur Rahman for comments were unsuccessful.

Mohammad Akhtar Hossain, Upazila Education Officer, said the authorities concerned had been informed about the incident.

“An investigation will be conducted and necessary action will be taken,” he said.
