Train services on Cox’s Bazar route resume after 4.5-hour suspension

Train services on the Cox’s Bazar route resumed after remaining suspended for around four and a half hours following an accident in Patiya, Chattogram.

The Cox’s Bazar Express train collided with a covered van in Patiya on Monday, causing one of the train’s coaches to derail. After the derailed coach was recovered, the train resumed its journey towards Dhaka at around 8:30 PM.

Chattogram Railway Station Manager Abu Bakkar Siddique confirmed the information that night. He said train services on the route had resumed. The Tourist Express train had also already departed from Cox’s Bazar on schedule.

Earlier, at around 3:30 PM, the Cox’s Bazar Express collided with a covered van that had broken down on the railway track. One of the train’s coaches subsequently derailed. However, no casualties were reported in the incident.
