Primary teachers’ appointment, posting schedule announced

The appointment and posting schedule for candidates initially selected for government primary school assistant teacher posts has been announced.

According to the schedule, appointment letters must be issued by September 24. Selected candidates will join their respective district primary education offices on October 1, while posting orders will be issued on October 4.

The information was disclosed on Tuesday (September 22).

The Directorate of Primary Education (DPE) instructed deputy commissioners and district primary education officers to take the necessary steps following administrative approval from the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education.

Before issuing appointment letters, authorities will verify candidates’ age, educational qualifications, nationality and submitted documents. General candidates must have been aged 21 to 32 years as of November 30, 2025, according to the recruitment circular.

Candidates must also meet medical fitness requirements and pass the required drug test. Those with adverse findings in police verification or National Security Intelligence (NSI) reports will not be appointed.

The selected candidates will be appointed temporarily as Grade 13 assistant teachers, with a salary scale of Tk 11,000 to Tk 26,590 under the National Pay Scale 2015.

The first two years will be considered a probationary period. Permanent appointment will depend on satisfactory performance, conduct and service records.

The teachers will have to complete a two-month training programme after joining and obtain Basic Training for Primary Teachers (BTPT) within four years.

Candidates must appear in person at their respective district primary education offices on October 1 to join. Failure to join on the scheduled date will result in cancellation of the appointment.

The recruitment is being conducted under the Directorate of Primary Education’s 2025 recruitment circular.
