President calls for joint efforts to address RMG sector challenges

President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has called on all stakeholders, including the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA) and Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMA), to work together to address the existing challenges facing the garment sector.

He made the call when a delegation led by BKMEA President Mohammad Hatem met him at Bangabhaban on Wednesday.

During the meeting, the President said coordinated initiatives were needed to keep the country's growing economy moving while ensuring that all sides benefited equally.

He said the government had adopted business- and industry-friendly policies to strengthen the economy, create employment and give businesses opportunities to recover.

He also stressed the need to provide necessary protection for industries and trade to sustain the growing economy. He called for reducing bank lending rates to encourage investment in the country.

Urging industrialists to explore alternative energy sources, including solar power, to address energy shortages, the President said the government was working to keep the country's growing economy moving.

He expressed gratitude to knitwear manufacturers and exporters for their important contribution to the country's foreign exchange earnings.

Referring to the restoration of democracy, President Fakhrul said any problem facing the country should be resolved through discussion in Parliament as part of the democratic process.

The President's Military Secretary, Secretary and Press Secretary, along with members of the BKMEA delegation, were present at the meeting.
