Trained workers to be sent abroad: Nur

GOPALGANJ, Sept 23: The Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment is actively working to transform Bangladesh’s population into a skilled workforce with a target of sending one crore skilled workers abroad, State Minister Nurul Haque Nur said on Wednesday.

Speaking during an inspection of the Gopalganj Technical Training Centre at noon, State Minister Nurul Haque emphasised that workers will be trained based on specific overseas market demands.

To curb exploitation by middlemen and reduce bureaucratic hurdles, the Bureau of Manpower, Employment and Training (BMET) activities are being digitised. Additionally, licensed recruiting agencies will be permitted to appoint authorised sub-agencies across various regions to ensure greater accountability.
