Hasina, 33 others face charge framing hearing today

Judge Robiul Alam of Dhaka Special Judge Court-4 is set to hear the matter.

The hearing was originally scheduled for September 1, but was deferred after the prosecution sought additional time as co-accused former State Minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak was not produced in court from prison.

According to the case documents, Md Hossain was shot and killed on July 19, 2024, in the Chand Uddyan area under Mohammadpur Police Station while returning home after parking his truck in Gabtoli during the anti-discrimination student movement..

The victim's mother, Reena Begum, filed a murder case at Mohammadpur Police Station on August 31, 2024.

Following an investigation, Sub-Inspector Akramuzzaman of Mohammadpur Police Station submitted a charge sheet on November 23, 2025, naming Sheikh Hasina and 33 others.

Key co-accused in the charge sheet include banned Awami League General Secretary and former Minister Obaidul Quader, former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, former Foreign Minister Hasan Mahmud, former Minister Jahangir Kabir Nanak, banned Chhatra League President Saddam Hussain, and General Secretary Sheikh Wali Asif Inan.

Among the 34 accused, four individuals—including former State Minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak and former MP Sadeq Khan—are currently in custody, ten are out on bail, and several others, including Asif Ahmed and Tarequzzaman Rajib, remain absconding.

If the court frames charges today, the trial process against the accused will formally commence.
