Police issue 12 rules for drivers of motorcycles, other vehicles

The police advised both motorcycle riders and passengers to wear helmets and urged all vehicle drivers and passengers to use seat belts. A motorcycle should carry no more than two people, including the rider.

Drivers have been instructed not to use mobile phones while driving and to avoid unnecessary honking. They have also been urged to follow speed limits and obey traffic signals against driving under the influence of drugs or while drowsy, as well as driving on the wrong side of the road. 

On highways, drivers were advised against risky overtaking and at all times.

The police advised drivers to remain alert to the blind spots of large and heavy vehicles and to use indicators before changing lanes or making turns. Maintaining a safe distance from other vehicles was also stressed.

In fog, rain or other adverse weather conditions, drivers should reduce speed and exercise extra caution. They were also urged to remain calm and control their temper during traffic congestion or when faced with mistakes by other road users.

The police warned drivers against driving under the influence of drugs or while drowsy, as well as driving on the wrong side of the road. On highways, drivers were advised against risky overtaking and instructed to remain in designated lanes.

Drivers were also asked to carry a valid driving licence and all other required, up-to-date vehicle documents.

Police urged motorists to follow the guidelines to help protect their own lives as well as those of their families and other road users.
