WUB organizes ‘STEM Carnival’ to foster interest in science and Tech among youth

The ‘WUB STEM Carnival 2026’ was held at the World University of Bangladesh (WUB) with the aim of fostering interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) among the younger generation and showcasing their creativity and innovative skills.

 Students from various colleges across the country participated in the event, held on December 22 at the university's own campus in Uttara, Dhaka. 

Through various science-based competitions and innovative activities, students had the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge, creativity, analytical thinking, and problem-solving abilities. Dr. M. Nurul Islam, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the World University of Bangladesh, attended the inaugural ceremony as the chief guest.

 The event was officially inaugurated at the university’s ‘Founding President’s Auditorium.’ Dr. A.K.M. Shariful Alam, the University Registrar, and Dr. Mohammad Kamruzzaman, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Engineering, jointly inaugurated the program. 

The event featured several competitions, including a Math Olympiad, Science and ICT Olympiads, a quiz competition, and a project showcase. Students from various departments participated in these contests. A total prize pool of Tk 3 lakh was allocated for the event; winners received cash prizes, certificates, and crests, while all participants were awarded certificates of participation.

 A major highlight of the event was the project showcase, where students presented innovative ideas in fields such as robotics, process development, and technological applications. Participating teams demonstrated their creativity, technical skills, and ability to transform concepts into practical solutions. The event began at 9:00 AM following the registration and reception phase.

 In addition to the various Olympiads and quiz competitions, the program also included an award-giving ceremony and a closing session.  Through the ‘WUB STEM Carnival,’ students gain scientific insights, learn from their peers, engage in teamwork, and showcase their innovative ideas. 

Simultaneously, the event emphasizes the development of critical thinking, problem-solving abilities, a collaborative mindset, and presentation skills among students.
