College student beaten dead in Gopalganj

GOPALGANJ, Sept 25: A college student was beaten to death by rivals in Gopalganj Sadar Upazila on Thursday morning.
  
The victim, Zobayer Bhuiyan, 22, was a second-year accounting student at Haji Lalt Mia City College and son of Ramzan Bhuiyan of Ghoradair Village. 

According to police and family sources, the incident occurred around 10:30 am when Zobayer was returning home from tutoring in the Pukhuria area. 

A group of 7 to 8 youths, led by Sohel, son of Shahid Mollah of the same village, allegedly beat him with sticks following an argument.

Locals rushed injured Zobayer to Gopalganj Medical College Hospital, where the doctor declared him dead.

Officer-in-Charge of Gopalganj Sadar Police Station Aminul Islam confirmed the incident.
