Two launch staff arrested as youth goes missing in Meghna

A young man went missing after falling into the Meghna River while getting off a launch at Shatnol launch terminal in Chandpur’s Matlab Uttar on Friday (September 25).

The incident occurred around 11 AM when the Makkbul-2 launch from Narayanganj was dropping passengers. The youth’s identity has not yet been confirmed.

Witnesses said the man returned to the launch after remembering that he had left his bag behind. As he tried to get off again, the launch moved backward, causing him to fall into the river.

Later, naval police arrested two staff members and detained the launch. A rescue operation is underway with the help of local residents, but the missing man has not yet been found.
