Man killed after being hit by train in Chattogram

An unidentified man was killed after being hit by a train near the Sholoshahar Railway Crossing in Chattogram city on Saturday.

The accident occurred around 1pm when the Tourist Express train hit him. Two other people, including a child, were killed in separate incidents in the same area earlier.

Asim Dhar, in-charge of Sholoshahar Station under Chattogram Railway Police Station, said the man was apparently walking along the railway tracks when he became confused as the train approached from behind. He died on the spot after being hit by the train.

The victim’s identity has not yet been confirmed. He was reportedly living around Sholoshahar Station.

Police recovered the body and will try to identify him through fingerprints and National ID records. The body will be sent to the Chattogram Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.

The latest death has raised fresh concerns over safety and movement on the railway tracks in the area.
